A visit to Walt Disney World takes a lot of planning and effort under normal circumstances, but throw pregnancy into the mix, and you’ve got a whole other ballgame. Is it worth going to Disney World while pregnant? Is there anything you can do? Is it safe? From this momma who has visited Disney World during two pregnancies, I can safely say… take the trip!
Disclaimer: I am not a physician. Every pregnancy is different, and every person is different. These are ways that I safely enjoyed my trips during pregnancies and some ideas I picked up along the way. If you have any medical concerns or questions, talk to your doctor!
Here are some of my favorite things about taking a trip to Disney while pregnant and some tips I have for you mommas-to-be!
Yes, you can still ride rides!
No, I’m not saying to hop on Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster or Expedition Everest. But you can still ride plenty of rides at Disney World when pregnant! A general rule of thumb is that if your little kid can ride it (i.e., it doesn’t have a height requirement), it’s gentle enough for you to ride. An exception to this height requirement idea is Soarin’, which is a very gentle ride overall. Be careful with attractions like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, as it can jerk you around a bit. I have also seen that Kilimanjaro Safari is not recommended while pregnant because of how bumpy it can get. Again, if you have any concerns about certain rides, ask your doctor or skip it!

Watch some shows!
Disney can get HOT, and what better way to take a load off those sore feet than by catching some AC and seeing a show. Disney has several options in each park, so if you’re starting to wear down and want to rest for a few minutes, take your pick! Bonus points if it has cushioned seats instead of benches or hard chairs!
EAT
If you’ve ever been pregnant, you know how hard those cravings can hit! Thankfully, Disney has PLENTY to offer to satisfy your needs! As long as morning sickness isn’t bothering you, treat yourself! Disney is very accommodating if you have any dietary restrictions, pregnancy-related or not. You’re burning a lot of energy growing that human, not to mention the calories you’re burning walking around the parks. Don’t be afraid to have a little treat!

Take it slow
Between dining reservations, park hours, limited vacation time, and Genie+, we often feel like we have to rush around the parks. Please take it slow! Eat a snack, take in the sights and sounds, sit down when necessary, and don’t push yourself! Be sure to drink lots of water, and if you need to take a break, take one! Find quiet places (yes, they exist at Disney!) to enjoy peace and quiet. Here are a couple of my favorites!
– The trails at the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom
– The UK pavilion hedge maze at Epcot
– The Riverboat OR Tom Sawyer’s Island at Magic Kingdon
– The Tower of Terror Courtyard OR the lobby exit for the ride
Take some fun photos!
For both our first pregnancy reveal and our second-born’s gender reveal, we used photos taken at Walt Disney World. Embroider a hat or set of Mickey’s ears and take cute photos around the parks! For our gender reveal, we bought a pink and a blue balloon, took a photo of them together in front of Cinderella Castle, and then took a photo of just the pink one to announce our baby girl. It’s still one of my favorite photos!

There’s something for everyone at Walt Disney World. So don’t despair if you can’t ride roller coasters or thrill rides – there’s still plenty for you to do! Whether it’s enjoying some low-key rides, eating lots of snacks (you’re eating for two, after all!), or slowing down to enjoy the parades or live entertainment, you can have a great Disney World trip while pregnant. So take care of yourself and go have a great time, momma!
